Enbian flag (referring to the sapphic and achillean flag)

The alternative Enbian flag by an anonymous wiki user.

The term Enbian, also known as non-binary loving non-binary (NBLNB), or Owtic, is used to describe nonbinary individuals attracted (exclusively or not) to nonbinary people, or in a relationship that contains no binary individuals. It can also be used as an adjective to describe a relationship between nonbinary people, a nonbinary person fitting the definition of Enbian above, or a community of Enbians.[1]

Enbian is similar to Sapphic and Achillean, but can function as a noun and concerns all nonbinary genders rather than a specific gender.[1]

Etymology[]

The prefix enb- of enbian comes from enby, a shortening of the word non-binary.

Flags[]

In August 2016 Tumblr user enbians created the first enbian flag. It appears that it is the first mention of enbian as a whole, although its actual coining date is unknown.[2] enbians created an alternative version the first flag in the same month.[3] The purple gradient background represents how no two nonbinary genders are exactly alike, but can all coexist under one umbrella term, as long as the differences between them are acknowledged. The yellow moon represents how one’s feelings and self-perceptions can change over time and reflects the fluid nature of gender identity, which can be ever changing, or cyclical.[2]

The colorless circle represents how identification transcends human language, the ambiguous space between a feeling and an alignment, and an unbroken connection. The crescent moon and the circle together symbolize of the unity of two (or more) individuals who are bound together in love similarly to how light is bound to the moon. [2]

On July 18th, 2017, a revised version of the original flag was made by tumblr user non-birbnary and posted by tumblr user bigenders, it retains the symbolism and meanings of the original flag.[4]

On October 22nd, 2017, Tumblr user the-ross-winchester created a nblnb/enbian flag based off of the NBLW/Trixic flag and NBLM/Toric flags. The green and orange represent being nonbinary because they are the inverted colors of binary pink and blue. The white stripe represents loving nonbinary individuals because white (like in the trans flag) represents people outside of the gender binary.[5]

In June 2018, (now deactivated) Tumblr user nblnb created an enbian flag inspired by the-ross-winchester's enbian flag with the same color meanings.

The three-horizontal-stripe alternative Enbian flag was created by an anonymous wiki user on April 20, 2021. The plum stripes represent nonbinary love. The Aster flower represents love, wisdom, faith, and color. The flag is designed to follow the same format as the Sapphic, Achillean, and Diamoric flags, as well as other flags for Juvelic orientations.

The term Diamoric is used to describe relationships that are neither gay nor straight because of the involvement of at least one nonbinary person. It can also be used for nonbinary individuals who are neither gay nor straight and want to highlight this, or their prioritization of relationships with nonbinary people.[7]

The Diamoric flag was made by Milith Rusignuolo on June 26th, 2016. It has the following meanings:[8]

  • Green: non-binary
  • White: following the pattern of the Sapphic and Achillean flags.
  • Myrtle: the flower sacred to Aphrodit(e/us) and Adonis, whose relationship may be said to be Diamoric.

Ceterosexual/romantic[]

Ceterosexual is a sexual orientation referring to someone who is exclusively attracted to non-binary individuals.

Some definitions, especially those tied to the older term "Skoliosexual" also include binary transgender individuals, however this term and definition are disputed as they can potentially be used in a transphobic manner (e.g. cisgender "chasers" who fetishize nonbinary and binary transgender individuals[9])

Ceteroromantic is the equivalent term for romantic attraction.
