Aromanticism is a romantic orientation where the individual experiences little to no romantic attraction towards any genders or sexes. Aromanticism is part of the aromantic spectrum, which also includes greyromanticism, demiromanticism, among others. An aromantic person can be of any gender identity, biological sex or sexual orientation. Those who are aromantic and asexual are known as aroace people, while those who are aromantic but not asexual or on the asexual spectrum are known as aroallo people.
Aromantic people do not necessarily have a lack of empathy or other emotions, they simply do not experience romantic attraction. Additionally, feeling a lack of romantic attraction doesn't inherently make one mentally ill, and so aromantic people do not certainly need any kind of mental health therapy.
Some aromantic people may want to seek out romantic-type relationships despite not feeling romantic attraction. These relationships are known as Queerplatonic Relationships.
